Most people ask what the Pocket Pro is? The real question is "why was the Pocket Pro created?"

Overview of the problem

As dog trainers know, training a competitive dog is a skilled art and can consist of thousands of possible tests and corrections. It can take years of learning and experience to be able to master the art of dog training. Trainers learn and teach in many different ways. These ways included hours of viewing videos, thousands of hours learning from more experienced trainers, seminars and working with pro trainers.

Unfortunately humans only retain between 10-20% of new information. Most of the time we need to write things down or review information repeatedly to retain this information on a long term basis.

The experienced trainer has thousands of skills in memory. He keeps libraries of tests and corrections for himself or perhaps for the next generation of dog trainers which may include his family or clients.

Another problem is that not everyone has the time to go to every seminar for updates and even so, not every topic or test can be covered during seminars or in conventional videos. Videos can be very boring and cannot be viewed in the field when you want to construct a new test.

Yet another problem is the present means of communication between friends or Pros is slow and confusing. It is hard to see new tests, trade information and invent new training tests and corrections.

At Bumper Boy’s technology department, we believe a solution can be accomplished through a computer animation program. Using audio and visual animation, possible tests, drills, and corrections can be shown. This would emulate a field experience.

The development of animated training systems with the Pocket Pro is simple enough to be used by non-computer people such as your average dog trainer with little or no computer skills. The following is an overview of the software simulation features available on the Pocket Pro:

• Up to 250 tests or drills can be shown on the handheld display or computer screen including animation, obstacles, and terrain such as brush, hills, water etc.
• Action simulations show how the dog should run various tests. This simulations include visual movement and verbal simulation such as gun shots, bird’s calls, gunner positions, retiring guns and honor dogs. There is not a training situation that you can not animate on the screen.
• Correction simulation – Through animation, voice and hand signals any number of possible correction simulations can be provided.
• Written notes can also provided for more detail when required.
• Dog statistics can be entered and matched to corrections on your handheld transmitter.

The Pocket Pro ’s simulation software allows both junior and advanced trainers to view hundreds of tests and corrections developed by their favorite Pros. Unlike videos, hundreds of tests can be viewed in the field - for example reviews of throwing order, sounds, dog path and corrections. Libraries can be constructed for future generations.
